METIRIS

Real time insight in crop nutrient status.

Metiris is a pre-incorporation Ghent University spinoff company.

Our handheld sensor enables direct leaf measurements and provides accurate nutritional insight.

Our product

Our sensor captures how light interacts with the leaf surface. But the real insights come from the software. We trained specialist models to translate spectral signatures into accurate nutrient concentrations. Just like a chemical leaf sample.

How it works

Traditional leaf tissue analysis is widely used to assess plant nutrient status, but the method has inherent constraints.
Laboratory analysis requires destructive sampling, sample preparation, and chemical processing, which together lead to relatively high analytical costs and multi‑day turnaround times.
These factors limit the frequency at which growers can monitor nutrient dynamics within a crop, especially in systems where nutrient status can change rapidly.

  • Place the device on a leaf. The spectrometer captures a hyperspectral signature. Light is absorbed, transmitted and reflected by the leaf.

  • Neural networks translate the spectral fingerprint into quantified nutrient concentrations ( e.g. N, P, K and others), tailored to crop and growth stage.

  • Instantly see nutrient status and fertilizer guidance to apply the right amount, reduce waste and protect yield.
